Conlog was proud to be an integral part of South Africa’s first ever shipment and preferential trading under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on Wednesday, 31 January 2024 at the Port of Durban. This prestigious event was officiated by President Cyril Ramaphosa and marks the start of a beneficial relationship between South Africa and 11 other African countries.

The AfCFTA enables the ease of trade between partner countries, opening up the market for thousands of product ranges and categories – from food and beverages to steel, machinery, taxis, pharmaceuticals and so much more. By eliminating barriers to trade, the AfCFTA aims to boost intra-African trade to the benefit of all 55 member states of the African Union.

The official launch at the Port of Durban saw a display of the products that were exported in the first shipment, including Conlog’s wBEC44(X) smart electricity meters, which were exported to Ghana. Conlog was represented by Viven Perumal, our Marketing and Business Development Executive, Don Archery, our Operations Executive, and Logan Moodley, Conlog’s CEO.

We are delighted to have been able to send this cutting-edge smart metering solution in the first AfCFTA shipment, enabling the illumination of the country of Ghana. This state-of-the-art technology is a game-changer in energy efficiency and reliability, and promises to revolutionise the way electricity is consumed and managed in the region.
